Leadership Savannah’s Annual Education Day Explores New Frontiers in Learning

Leadership Savannah recently hosted its annual primary education day, featuring several new locations for the program. The day began with a visit to the Formey Early Learning Center, where participants gained insights into the Savannah Chatham County Public School system. Panels covering private school choices and charter school options in Chatham County provided a comprehensive view of Chatham’s educational opportunities.

Following this enlightening start, the class embarked on a unique adventure as they boarded a school bus—a first-time experience for one classmate—and headed to Savannah High School for the afternoon. The class was treated to a delicious lunch prepared by the Blue Jacket’s award-winning culinary team. Superintendent Dr. Denise Watts, sharing her inspiring vision for the school district’s future under her leadership, added depth to the experience. A tour of Savannah High School allowed participants to witness firsthand the innovative programs and facilities shaping the education of tomorrow’s leaders. The day concluded at Ardsley Station, providing an opportunity for reflection and camaraderie.

Special thanks go to Dr. Joe Buck and Stacy Jennings with the Savannah-Chatham Public School System for orchestrating this impactful and informative day about our education systems’ successes and challenges.
