Last week, the General Assembly convened on Monday, March 29, and Wednesday, March 31, completing legislative days 39 and 40, the final days of session. Several pieces of positive legislation passed that were directly addressed through the Chamber’s 2021 State Legislative Agenda.

Hotel Tybee Welcomes Visit Tybee and Visit Savannah Staff to Tour New Grandview Conference Center

The Visit Savannah and Visit Tybee teams toured Hotel Tybee’s newest addition to the property the Grandview at Hotel Tybee event space. The Grandview is the property’s new seaside conference center, designed to host groups, meetings and conventions, weddings and receptions all with great views and seating for up to 150 people.

Chatham County Sheriff’s Department and Little Mama Visit the Chamber

Sheriff John T. Wilcher and his team visited the Chamber offices last week to pick up Savannah marketing materials to help showcase Savannah to potential new recruits at an upcoming job fair the department is attending. Adding to the friendly visit was “Little Mama” the Sherriff’s department newest 4-footed recruit for Operation New Hope! Operation New Hope is a partnership program between the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office and various animal rescue organizations throughout the area.

Chamber Joins Greenbriar Children’s Center “Safe Place" Program

The Greenbriar’s Children’s Center named the office of the Chamber and Visit Savannah a designated “Safe Place” in Savannah. Safe Place consists of a national network of more than 22,000 partnering businesses and community locations, such as fast-food restaurants, convenience stores, fire stations, public buses, and libraries, which display the Safe Place sign in their windows. As youth enter a designated Safe Place and ask for help, trained staff members connect them to the appropriate youth shelter for assistance.
