The 2022 Visit Savannah Official Insider’s Guide is now available! This guide is chocked full of pertinent visitor information, member listings, and helps travelers plan their trips making the most of their time in Savannah and encouraging visitors to stay longer. The guides are distributed to travelers who visit Georgia welcome centers, Savannah visitor information centers and by visitor who requests guides before they arrive. Distribution is also available to tours and groups as well as lodging Chamber members who give them to their guests.

Visit Savannah’s 2021 Spring Midweek Campaign was named one of only three finalists for the 2021 Destinations Council Destiny Award for Best Digital Campaign. Finalists were featured on the U.S. Travel Association website to their audience of national and international tourism leaders.

Visit Savannah’s national sales team attended the Maritz Global Events Annual Partner event last week in Seattle, Washington. The organization is one of the top meeting planning organizations in the country and has partnered with Savannah on meetings and conventions. Last week’s event drew 180 event planners, many anxious to learn more about hosting meetings and conferences in Savannah.

Visit Savannah President, Joseph Marinelli, attended the Global Traveler Awards reception in Washington D.C. last week to receive the Top Weekend Destination in the U.S. award. “Savannah has won this top award for two years in a row and now for the third time,” said Marinelli.

Last week, Visit Savannah’s leadership team participated in their annual retreat. The team worked on 2022 objectives which included, developing strategies for bolstering the current leisure travel demand in the market, cultivating new and larger convention business prospects, and improving efficiencies of our current data-driven intelligence.

Senior members of the National Home Builders Association (NHBA) were in Savannah last week putting the final touches on their October meeting at the JW Marriott. In addition to the meeting functions, the conference week includes several networking-focused special events for a variety of select groups including spouse-only events.

Visit Savannah’s Tour and Travel team participated in the American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) Global Convention in Chicago last week. More than 1,000 travel professionals attended the convention and had the opportunity to spend some time in the Savannah booth. ASTA members represent 80 percent of all travel sold in the United States through the travel agency distribution channel.

These happy visitors from Chattanooga, Tennessee were all smiles after their warm and sweet welcome to Savannah. Vice President of Communications and Marketing Jeremy Harvey and Lauren Cleland, Director of Data Intelligence & Digital Marketing, were recently featured on industry webinars. In his webinar which originally aired on August 5, Jeremy discussed quantifying the economic impact of marketing with other industry experts. In a webinar on August 19, Lauren discussed the various threats facing DMOs and how upcoming technological changes will impact destinations.
