Savannah Chatham Day Oyster Roast this Thursday in Atlanta

Savannah Chatham Day is scheduled for Thursday, February 3, at the State Capitol. With the recent spike in COVID infections and out of an abundance of caution, we will NOT host the 2:30 p.m. business meetings in the Capitol, in Room 341.

The oyster roast at the Georgia Freight Depot from 5 – 8 p.m. will proceed as scheduled. Please note that the Depot doors will not be open before the 5 p.m. start time.

Please follow public health guidelines, including wearing a mask if unvaccinated. Should any new developments about Savannah Chatham Day occur, we will notify you at once. The Chamber looks forward to hosting you in Atlanta on Thursday, February 3. We appreciate your support.

Courses & Conversations at The Pirates' House | Tuesday, February 1

At this lunchtime networking opportunity, participants will begin their meal with an appetizer course and networking with the people at their table. Then, after 20 minutes, rotate to another table to enjoy their entrée with another group. Finally, a third rotation will bring them to the third group of peers to enjoy a final course of coffee and dessert while they talk about who they are and what they do. After three rotations and a full meal, each attendee will leave with business cards from new potential clients and partners.

On January 10, the Georgia General Assembly returned to the State Capitol building to start the 2022 legislative session. Governor Brian Kemp delivered his annual State of the State address on January 10 to a joint session of the General Assembly, where he outlined his legislative priorities for the year.

Area Businesses and Community Agencies Join Forces to Tackle Homelessness

Homelessness is a challenge for many communities, including our own. Since the pandemic began, the problem has grown, and so have the challenges felt by business owners. The Savannah Area Chamber recently met with the City of Savannah, Chatham County, Savannah Police Department, and several area housing and homeless authorities to discuss short-term and long-term solutions to provide services for this vulnerable population.

Visit Savannah’s Public Relations Team Promotes Savannah on the BBC

Last week, Ansley Connor, Visit Savannah’s communications manager, was invited to speak on live air with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) national radio station. BBC runs a feature called the Great American Road Trip, where they bring their U.K. audience to a different destination every week to learn more about it, and Savannah was the chosen destination of the week.
