Legislative Update: Week of February 7

The General Assembly began the legislative day 16 on Monday, February 14, and will gather for a committee workday on Wednesday, February 16.

On Friday, February 11, the House passed HB 910 the FY 2022 Supplemental Appropriations bill.  After passing the House, HB 910 was submitted to the Senate for review and approval.  The House continues to work on the FY2023 General Appropriations bill.

Visit Savannah Preps for the September 2022 Meeting of National Interstate Insurance

Members of the Visit Savannah sales team, Kellie Linder and Ginger McCoy, hosted Maureen Primosch, senior events planner for National Interstate Insurance, during a site visit of Savannah's convention hotels last week. Maureen plans and executes more than 40 meetings annually and will host a group in Savannah in September 2022.

Visit Savannah and Partners Meet with St. Andrews School Freshman Class

Leadership with Visit Savannah and Savannah Kelley Tours teamed up to present the tourism and hospitality industry as future career and job considerations to a group of 35 first-year students at St. Andrews School on Wilmington Island. The group experienced a tour of the Historic District and behind-the-scenes tours of the operations at the Savannah Convention Center and the J.W. Marriott at Plant Riverside District.

Canadian Visitors Pursue History with Visit to Savannah

Frank and Manon Krahn from Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, visited the main visitor center on MLK last week and visited with center staff. The Krahns said they traveled to the USA to pursue history and that they like to spend at least a week in each travel destination and explore on foot. The Krahns were very complimentary of Savannah and plan on visiting again soon.

Last week the Chamber held its quarterly Business Connection at Service Brewing. More than 150 attendees enjoyed an exclusive tasting of Service Brewing's latest beer release while networking with other area business professionals and peers.
