Legislative Update: House Bill 1064 Calls for Tax Exemptions for Military Retirement Income

Last week, the Georgia General Assembly convened on Monday, February 14, 2022, for legislative day 16 and was in session on Tuesday and Thursday of that week. Wednesday, February 16, served as a committee workday. This week, the Georgia General Assembly reconvened on Tuesday and will conduct a session on Thursday, with Wednesday, February 23 serving as a committee workday.

Avelo Airlines announced a significant expansion of its East Coast service last week with the addition of four popular Southeastern U.S. destinations from Connecticut's most convenient airport — Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN). Beginning in May, Avelo will add exclusive nonstop service between HVN and two South Carolina destinations: Myrtle Beach and Charleston, as well as Savannah, Ga. / Hilton Head, S.C.; and Nashville, Tenn.

Small Business Assistance Corporation has just announced a call for businesses to apply to become Service Provider Partners. Partners will be referred to clients as they receive SBAC's new "Technical Assistance Scholarship," which provides individual applicants with up to $500 worth of business assistance services.

Sales Mission to Atlanta Calls On Georgia Association Clientel

Jen Thompson with Visit Savannah, Cherly Tally with Hyatt Regency Historic District, and Dawn Ryan with  Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa were in Atlanta last week to visit customers. For dinner, the team joined the Georgia Society of Association Executives, executive director Wendy Kavanaugh, and Damian Kavanaugh, executive director of Mid-South Independent School Business Officers.

Visit Savannah's Kellie Linder attended the AMC Institute in Colorado Springs. The conference included 200 attendees with owners and managers of Association Management Companies from across the U.S. AMCI members representing over 3000 association clients from a sourcing and servicing level.

New Vacation Rental Space at the Gingerbread House Highlighted at Coffee Chats

February's Coffee Chats welcomed more than 40 guests at the Gingerbread House and showcased their newly renovated vacation rental space. Each guest had an opportunity to introduce themselves to the group and spend time building their professional network over coffee and muffins provided by Foxy Loxy Cafe.
