For the last two years, leaders in the business community and our non-profit partners have worked together to restructure ways for Chatham County to improve the quality of life for our homeless population. The Savannah Chatham County Continuum of Care (CoC) is the county-wide approach used to address homelessness. The approach represents key stakeholder organizations and individuals who have collaborated to create and implement an effective and sustainable system to help combat this issue.

After a two-year hiatus, the Visit Savannah public relations team traveled to Atlanta to update Georgia-based media on what's new in Savannah and Tybee Island. More than 25 newspapers, magazines, and blog editors were in attendance as the Visit Savannah team talked about new hotels, restaurants, tours and attractions updates, as well as the return of Savannah's festival and events.

Members of the Savannah Sports Council Board and staff were guests of the Jacksonville Icemen Hockey team and Ghost Pirates’ President Bob Ohrablo for a brief preview of ECHL hockey in action. With anticipation growing for the first puck drop of the Ghost Pirate's inaugural season, this exploratory trip cemented the Sports Council's vision of what to expect this season in Savannah.

Kellie Linder, Director of Midwest sales, along with Mark Lupfer with the Savannah Convention Center, spent the week in Ohio on sales calls. Visit Savannah and the Convention Center attended the “Tuesday Destination Celebrations” event where Ohio-based planners were invited to spend the evening learning about 50 destinations.

Visiting the MLK Visitor Center and Savannah for the first time are Jean-Francois from France and his wife, Aleksandra, from Poland. The couple now resides in England. Savannah has been a bucket list destination for the couple. As international travel begins to pick up again, we are looking forward to welcoming more visitors from abroad.

Last week the Chamber hosted ‘Courses & Conversations’ at Crosswinds Golf Club for more than 30 chamber members and guests. Attendees enjoyed a delicious meal while rotating tables to network with new potential clients and partners. The event closed with some exciting raffle prizes like an entry to win an electric scooter at Blessing of the Fleet on May 28, 2022.
