The Visit Savannah team partnered with Explore Georgia and other Georgia destinations at the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) annual convention in Nashville last week. Considered by many as “the Super Bowl” for meeting planners and association executives, the team reported dozens of quality meetings with prospective planners for meetings, conventions, trade shows, and sports events.
The ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition is where thousands of association professionals and industry partners gather to exchange knowledge, resources, strategies, solutions, and more.

Coffee Chats return this September to the Clyde! Members are invited to commence their morning with a freshly-brewed cup of coffee and stimulating business conversations with new clients.
The event allows for 30 minutes of open networking first, followed by a 10-15 seconds “elevator pitch” session where participants introduce themselves and their brand to everyone.

Last week, Leadership Savannah held its annual tourism program where the class learned about the history, growth, and future of one of our leading economic sectors: tourism. Guest speakers included Vaughnette Goode-Walker, Owner of Footprints of Savannah Walking tours, Corey Jones, CEO of Lucky Savannah Vacation Rentals, Michael Owens, President of Tourism Leadership Council, and President of Visit Savannah, Joseph Marinelli.
The class spent the afternoon hearing about how Visit Savannah attracts visitors and helps provides unique travel experiences.

Last week, Visit Savannah’s Domestic Group Tours/Entertainment Director, Anjuli King presented at the Breezy Tour & Travel Showcase in New York.
This was Breezy’s 15th Anniversary Trade Show, and King was able to present Savannah to some 300 attendees in the boroughs of NYC. From this presentation, host and owner of Breezy Tour & Travel, Marilyn Harvey secured a group of 56 slated to arrive in Savannah next Spring!

As a part of Federal relief efforts to mitigate the effects of COVID-19, both Chatham County and the City of Savannah are administering grants for small businesses. On Wednesday, September 14th, the County will host a Small Business Grant Program Promotional Event and Press Conference from 4-7 p.m.
For the County, amount up to $25,000 can be awarded and within the City grants of $10,000 are available. Each government has information available on how to access the grants and the application process.

The Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire will be hosting Savannah Day of Peace on September 25, 2022 in Daffin Park. Not September 2nd. We apologize for the mixup on the dates in the last newsletter.
The Day will feature a peace parade led by Savannah Mayor Van Johnson and Savannah City Council members. The 2022 Peacebuilder Award Honoree will be announced and the City of Savannah's new Peace Proclamation will also be on display. This event is open and free to the public!

Gateway Community Service Board, Chatham County, Coastal Georgia Indicator’s Coalition, Savannah Chatham County Public School System, and Georgia Southern will be hosting Road to Resilience Conference and Brake the Stigma: Mental Health Awareness Car Show on September 10th at Georgia Southern’s Armstrong Campus.
Previously three separate events — Brake the Stigma: Mental Health Awareness Car Show; Mental Health Symposium; and the Trauma Informed Education Symposium (TIES) — are coming together to form one day of professional education, training, and awareness to address the behavioral and mental health needs of Chatham County.

The Chamber held its 2022 Business EXPO and Business Connection event last Thursday at the Kehoe Ironworks Building. This popular Chamber event saw more than 500 members and guests for an afternoon of business networking and community engagement. Mayor Van Johnson led the ribbon-cutting and grand opening of the event, followed by remarks from Chamber Board Chairperson Allyson Harvin and Chamber's Small Business Events Manager, Conni Reynolds.
There was a variety of representation, all the way from wellness spa exhibitors, event suppliers, to financial institutions, non-profits, and software-solution companies. This free educational event was highly anticipated and well-attended, making it a mega success.
