Leadership Savannah Celebrates 60 Years of Inspiring Leadership Growth

Leadership Savannah held a cocktail reception at the Jepson Center for Fine Arts to celebrate 60 years of programming and graduates last Thursday. At this milestone celebratory event, Greg Sewell, President of the Leadership Savannah board, Allyson Harvin, President of the Chamber of Commerce Board, Mayor Van Johnson, Dr. Joe Buck, and Benjamin Simons, Director of the Telfair Museums spoke about the enduring legacy of Leadership Savannah and its role in the business community.

Visit Savannah's Sales Team Showcases Savannah at the International Meetings Exchange

Last week, Visit Savannah's sales team was on the road in Las Vegas, attending IMEX, the International Meetings Exchange. More than 10,000 suppliers and buyers were in attendance, meeting with destinations worldwide. Savannah had a significant presence at the show and met with 109 meeting and convention planners.

Chamber's Education Program on TSPLOST

The Savannah Area Chamber's ballot initiative committee, Citizens for Progress, has started an aggressive education program to inform the voters of Chatham County on the benefits of a Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST). Early voting in Chatham County began this past Monday, October 7, and runs through November 4, with election day being November 8.

LAST WEEK AT THE CHAMBER

Savannah Flies High With 165th Airlift Wing

Last week, Leadership Savannah enjoyed its annual military program with much anticipation.  The participants started the day at the 165th Airlift Wing, where they learned about the dual mission of the division.  After that, Col. David Spisso, Class of 2017, flew the class on a C-130 to Hunter Army Airfield but not before dropping the back door and maneuvering the plane to grab everyone's attention.

Last week the Chamber visited The Culturist Union for their monthly Coffee Chats networking session. More than 40 members came to this locally-owned coffee shop for introductions and connection-building with new area professionals. The Culturist Union is a black-owned and female-owned multifunctional coffeehouse + marketplace whose artisan indoor and outdoor spaces offered a great networking atmosphere.
