Chatham County voters will see the Transportation Special Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST) on this November’s ballot. The mayors of all the municipalities in Chatham County are collectively asking for support in passing TSPLOST. We need TSPLOST to fund our future, maintain the structures in place, and keep current tax trajectory stable.
The population of Chatham County grew just under 15 percent over the last decade when the County voters last considered a regional TSPLOST vote.

After five years as Director of the Savannah Sports Council, Rob Wells has accepted the role as Executive Director for the Wayne County, Ohio, Convention and Visitors Bureau. His careful watch over our owned events like the Enmarket Savannah Bridge Run, the Enmarket Savannah Hockey Classic, the Publix Women’s Half Marathon, and the Georgia Power Sports Awards Banquet is greatly appreciated.

Last week, Chamber staffers attended a community celebration of the Hyundai Motor Group at Hyundai’s Bryan County MetaPlant. The almost 3000-acre Metaplant will employ 8,100 workers and should be rolling out new electric models by 2025.

Last week, Savannah College of Art and Design hosted Leadership Savannah last week with a tour of the Gulfstream Design Center, Savannah Film Studios, and Kian Hall. The class enjoyed the SCAD Story, an interactive experience in Ruskin Hall, before having lunch at the historical Gryphon Tea Room with SCAD faculty.
