The Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD) announced their 2023 ‘Small Business ROCK STARS’ as part of the state’s celebration of Georgia Small Business Week 2023, recognized May 1- 6. Benedetto Guitars, a Savannah-based company founded in 1968 by American luthier Robert Benedetto, has been spotlighted as one of the five Small Business ROCK STARS in the state.

Last week, Leadership Savannah focused on agriculture and higher education with an outing to Crumley’s Farm and then to Savannah State University. The class learned about the state’s Georgia Grown initiative and small business incubators, along with BIG the Business Innovation Group.

The visitor center staff recently toured several Coastal Heritage Society (CHS) properties, including the Children’s Museum and some historic homes in Frogtown. Emily Beck and Elisabeth Chappell of CHS guided their Frogtown tours. The staff members had the opportunity to learn about the rich history of Savannah and explore two unique homes restored by the CHS.

This Savannah Sports Council celebrated 30 years of developing sport-related events that impact our community by hosting the 2023 annual Georgia Power Sports Awards Luncheon at the Savannah Golf Club on Friday, May 5. The awards luncheon recognized local athletes and partners who have excelled at their given sport. The Council bestowed honors in numerous categories including Sports Event of the Year, the John F. Hodges OASIS Award, and scholarships to men and women embarking on their college careers.
