Chamber Hosts Military Affairs Council Clay Shoot
Thank you to everyone who joined us on Thursday, May 29th, for our annual Military Affairs Council Clay Shoot at Forest City Gun Club. Four-person teams enjoyed a day on the range filled with friendly competition and camaraderie among business peers. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Chamber’s ongoing efforts to support our area’s military installations and the families they serve.
We were honored to have representation from the Combat Aviation Brigade at Hunter Army Airfield, the 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, and the 165th Air National Guard. Visit Savannah's Joe Marinelli Met with Expedia Representatives and Area Hotel General Managers
Last week, Visit Savannah President & CEO, Joseph Marinelli, met with local and national representatives from Expedia.com and a number of area hotel general managers. In addition to enjoying some of the fine culinary offerings of Saint Bibiana at the Hotel Bardo, the group discussed current travel industry trends and strategies for promoting summertime travel to Savannah and Chatham County. Although local lodging partners weathered a snowstorm earlier this year, causing a drop in hotel occupancies for that week around the community, and are dealing the impact of current national headlines and politics, most remained optimistic for a strong summer and fall visitation numbers. Visit Savannah works with Expedia to amplify marketing campaigns for Savannah, Tybee Island and Garden City. Read more ▶

Visit Savannah's Supriya Christopher recently worked with prolific New York City travel writer, Bruce Northam. Bruce came to Savannah for three nights during the Savannah Music Festival and covered everything from music, restaurants, museums, tours, SCAD, as well as his stay at The River Street Inn. Visit Savannah Represented at Mid-Atlantic Roadshow
Visit Savannah's Senior Director of Sales, Larry Browder, recently attended the "Retreats Resources" Mid Atlantic Road Show. This event took place in Virginia and Washington DC and brought together top meeting planners in the area for three days of networking and boutique trade show events. The interest in Savannah was strong and Larry was able to discuss several opportunities for future events with over 45 prospective customers--all of whichl gave Savannah a "thumbs up!" Read more ▶
