Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce Celebrates National Small Business Week

Festivities kicked off on Monday, May 5, with an Owner’s Council luncheon featuring a legislative wrap up discussion with local delegation. Throughout the week, community partners will host a variety of events including the Mayor’s Small Business Conference, the State of Small Business, the always-popular Reverse Trade Show at the Civic Center, and the return of Small Business Gives Back Day on Thursday with a Broughton Street clean up. The celebration will wrap up with Shop Small Weekend, encouraging everyone to shop local and show support for our community’s entrepreneurs. Read more

Governor Kemp Signs Landmark Legislation Benefiting Coastal Georgia

Savannah Convention Center Opens Expansion

Governor Brian Kemp, along with the Savannah-Georgia Convention Center Authority and other local leaders celebrated to grand opening of the newly expanded Savannah Convention Center with a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week. Over 300 people attended the press conference, which was followed by tours of the building and a reception showcasing many of the area's of the new space. Read more

Visit Savannah’s Kellie Linder Engages Over 180 Meeting Planners at Destination Celebration Events
 
Visit Savannah’s Kellie Linder, VP of Sales, along with Curry Epley (Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa) and Cyrese Shonkwiler (JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District) attended the Destination Celebration events in Minneapolis and  Kansas City. The Destination Celebration is a professional networking and promotional event for meeting planners and event organizers. The collaboration launched a first-of-its-kind AI-powered display ad that delivered a 14% lift in engagement—well above industry benchmarks. Perion was so pleased with the results that they developed a formal case study and turned it into a press release, which was distributed via BusinessWire and picked up by major national outlets including Investing.com, Nasdaq.com, Yahoo Finance, TalkMarTech.com, and several others. Visit Savannah’s AI Chat Unit—a first-of-its-kind interactive display ad allowing users to “chat” with Savannah for real-time travel ideas—was named Best Travel Interactive Application at the 2025 Internet Advertising Competition (IAC) Awards. Savannah/Chatham County Selected to Host the 2025 USA Track & Field (USATF) Junior Olympic Championships
 
Savannah/Chatham County has officially been awarded the USA Track & Field (USATF) Junior Olympic Championships, scheduled to take place July 21–27, 2025. This achievement is the result of months of dedicated effort, with special recognition given to Committee member and Savannah State University Athletic Director, Opio Mashariki, as well as the Savannah Sports Council team—Kristyn, Sarah, and Caroline—for their instrumental roles in securing the event.
