The Savannah Chamber Weekly Digest
Everything You Need to Know From the Chamber

Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce

August 17, 2020

Savannah has lost a champion this week in the passing of longtime Chatham County Commissioner James “Coach” Holmes.

Coach was larger than life. He was the person in the room who always wore a smile.

I have always admired his commitment to service for our community, first as an educator and then as District 2 County Commissioner. It was here our organization got to know him well. Coach made sure he was accessible to his constituents and transparent when it came to the interests of the community.

Coach Holmes exemplified the values of what makes Chatham County great and exhibited the leadership, trust, and honor that great leaders are made of.

On behalf of myself, the Savannah Area Chamber and our more than 2,200 Chamber members, may we continue to be inspired by Chatham County Commissioner James “Coach” Holmes and the legacy of respect, decency, and civility he leaves behind.

Small Business Loan Assistance Available from Coastal Area District Development Authority

Source: CADDA

In July, the Coastal Area District Development Authority, Inc. (CADDA) was awarded $10 million from the Economic Development Administration to launch a CARES ACT Recovery Assistance Loan Fund to assist businesses impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The EDA CARES ACT Revolving Loan Fund provides economic assistance to businesses within a nine-county region of Coastal Georgia including Bryan, Bulloch, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long and McIntosh. The loan proceeds are for recovery assistance to those businesses that demonstrate a credit worthy track record prior to the COVID-19 pandemic that now struggle to meet monthly operating needs. The primary focus of the program is working capital for existing businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic; however, loan proceeds may also be used for fixed asset financing and limited debt consolidation. Due to expected demand, applications may be accepted for a limited time. To see if your small business qualifies, click here.
