Gov. Kemp Reports Georgia’s 7-Day Average of New COVID-19 Cases is Down

Governor Brian Kemp released new COVID-19 numbers in his weekly newsletter to constituents. Gov Kemp provided key statistics and rankings on how Georgia’s measured approach to fighting the pandemic is paying off for Georgians.  

  • The number of COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Georgia is 1,287. That's DOWN 60% from the peak in late July.
  • Georgia's effective reproduction rate (Rt) is .86.  That's the LOWEST in America.
  • Our percent positive of COVID-19 tests continues to DROP. The 7-day average FELL to 6.3%.
  • Georgia's 7-day average of new cases is 1,219. That's DOWN 28% from last week.

Most Small Businesses Say the Economy Is Their Top Election Issue

A majority of America’s small businesses rank the economy as one of the top two issues influencing who they will vote for this fall according to data from the Q3 2020 MetLife & U.S. Chamber of Commerce Small Business Index. The survey of 1,000 small business owners—conducted between August 21 and 27 of this year—also indicates that they continue to view the economy as predominately negative.

Destination Analyst Travel Sentiment Report: Week of September 28

Although COVID-19 concerns are rising, nearly two-thirds of American travelers plan to take a trip this fall, including some notable interest in workcations and schoolcations. Nevertheless, three-quarters of American travelers continue to report having at least tentative trip plans—primarily over the next 6 months—as well as exhibit a perception of travel to meet their emotional needs. The percent that agree price cuts and discounts can motivate them to consider a new trip is as high as it has been during the pandemic.

Historic Savannah Theater Re-opens

The Savannah Theatre has re-opened featuring the show “CABARET” now through October 17. The show features a live band, singers, dancers, and aerial artistry. Tickets are on sale now with limited seating available. To comply with safety standards, Savannah Theater will only be selling 25% of the seating capacity.  Masks are required for entry and seating will be adequately distanced.
