This is a nonpartisan body that provides oversight of the Board of Registrars staff in the areas of voter registration, maintenance of voter rolls, mail-in ballot voting process, and absentee in-person early voting.

The Georgia Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus (GACVB) met in Savannah last week for their Winter Conference, which was delayed due to the pandemic earlier this year. More than 230 attendees from across Georgia convened in Savannah breaking conference attendance records for the organization.

The new Give Change That Counts aims to strengthen the community and reduce the need for panhandling by our homeless population throughout the area. The fundraising campaign will help establish day centers throughout the area that act as safe havens and resource centers for those in need and will help improve the coordination of local resources with the goal of reducing the populations need for panhandling.

The Army National Hiring Days campaign, which launched as a virtual event in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, will run May 10-June 14 this year and includes up to $40,000 in signing bonuses or student loan reimbursement up to $65,000, depending on qualifications, selected occupation, and length of the service.

The Chamber hosted a Business Connection at Riverworks Apartments at Eastern Wharf last week which was sponsored by Balfour Beatty. Chamber members were able to get a sneak peek of the Riverworks Apartments at the new Eastern Wharf. The evening included property tours, business networking and cocktails, all while learning more about this exciting new Savannah neighborhood!
