Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. These words come from the Declaration of Independence and are what the forefathers of our great country were fighting for when they declared an independent nation in 1776.
We are living in challenging times. An economic recovery coming out of a global pandemic. Increased violence in many of our cities. Political partisanship pushing people farther and farther apart.
However, our country and its citizens are steadfast, resilient, and brave. Our economy in Savannah and Chatham County is thriving. The expansion of our port, commercial and residential growth, and new businesses are at all-time highs. Our military continues to be a strong presence in our region and our tourism industry keeps trending well beyond national averages.
This weekend as we celebrate our nation’s Independence Day, I hope you are able to enjoy time with friends and family and reflect on the incredible country that we are fortune enough to call home.
I hope you will also remember and reflect on those brave men and women who sacrificed so much to establish the greatest nation in the history of the world.
I hope you all have a happy and safe 4th of July weekend.
Sincerely yours,
Jon Pannell, Chamber Chairman Partner Gray Pannell & Woodward LLP
