Last week, the Chamber’s Governmental Affairs Council hosted the annual Eggs & Issues legislative breakfast where the 2022 state legislative agenda, key pro-business policies, and positions were presented. Held at the Marriott Savannah Riverfront, more than 300 attendees enjoyed networking with the local business community and elected officials. The breakfast featured the Chatham County legislative delegation members who spoke about their goals for the upcoming year.

The Savannah Area Chamber will host the 2022 Economic Outlook luncheon on Thursday, January 20, at the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa. The luncheon will feature presentations on the region’s current economic trends and 2022 forecast by Dr. Mike Toma of Georgia Southern University’s Armstrong Campus and Dr. Benjamin Ayers, Dean of the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia. Attendees will receive a copy of the Chamber’s Economic Trends booklet. Please note, there will be no registration at the door of this event.

Runners from across the region tackled the Talmadge Bridge last Saturday in what’s known as one of the South’s most challenging bridge runs. More than 3,000 runners ran or walked the 5k, 10k, and the Double Pump, which is twice over the bridge and back.

This week, Savannah will host the 100th anniversary of the National Agricultural Aviation Associations at their annual convention. Known to some in town as the “cropdusters,” over 1200 attendees and their guests will fill five area hotels and the Savannah Convention Center for 3 ½ days.

International visitors are eager to return to the United States as Visit Savannah’s business development manager, Mindy Shea, recently found out at the Travel South International Showcase in New Orleans. The show was attended by 130 international tour operators from 17 countries. Shea and Kelse Palko, owner of Noble Jones Tours, met with over 40 operators.

The 2021 Holiday Oyster Roast & Pop-up Shops presented by T-Mobile, was a wonderful evening of music, networking, and fresh oysters prepared by Barnes restaurant for more than 250 members of our business community. The Christmas tree at Bull Street and Broughton Street was the perfect setting for Chamber members to connect and enjoy the local holiday spirit.
