The Georgia General Assembly convened on Monday, March 28 for legislative day 36 and worked through Friday, April 1, completing legislative day 39. Thursday, March 31, Saturday, April 2, and Sunday, April 3 were all committee workdays.

Power Hour Luncheon at Enmarket Arena | Tuesday, April 5


Join us at the new Enmarket Arena as we hear from guest speaker Bob Ohrablo, President of the Savannah Ghost Pirates at this quarter’s Power Hour Luncheon. Get to know more about the economic impact, current standings and future impacts of the Ghost Pirates and their plans for community, youth and charity involvement. With more than 36 games each season, the team plans to bring thousands of guests to area restaurants, bars, retail and entertainment establishments. The Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon and 5K Welcomes more than 2,000 Runners

This past weekend, the Savannah Sports Council welcomed runners from around the country as the Publix Savannah Women's Half Marathon and 5K made their return to an in-person race after a two-year hiatus. Participants enjoyed a pre-race fashion and fitness expo at the Kehoe Ironworks Building on Friday and perfect weather on Saturday for the half marathon and 5K runs. “We are excited to welcome runners to Savannah for the Publix race,” said Katlyn Presti, sports event manager for the Savannah Sports Council.

Port of Savannah Completes Harbor Deepening Project

The Georgia Ports Authority, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Georgia Department of Transportation and dignitaries joined state officials Friday to mark completion of the Savannah Harbor deepening. The project expedites the flow of cargo to and from global destinations by reducing tidal restrictions for mega-ships transiting the Savannah River.

Visit Savannah Sales Team Host Site Visit for Future Meeting

Kellie Linder hosted WinShape Foundation this week for a site visit for a February 2023 annual meeting. This meeting would bring 500 WinShape Foundation employees to Savannah to team build and celebrate the foundation's success for 2022.

Savannah Shines at Major Tradeshow

Jeff Hewitt and Larry Browder of Visit Savannah, along with Staci Stover of the Savannah Convention Center, attended the “Destination Showcase” trade show in Washington D.C. last week. In attendance were top meeting planners from the DC/VA/MD metro areas who represent opportunities for future Savannah meetings and conventions.

Visit Savannah Tour and Travel Team Travel to California for Trade Show

With over 150 travel buyers present, Anjuli King attended Tour Connection (TC) in Huntington Beach this year. TC provides unsurpassed exposure to the travel buyers responsible for booking concert tours, production travel for film, television and theatre, VIP travel and more!  In addition to providing a comprehensive resource, they host three annual networking events each year.

The Savannah and Tybee Visitor Center staff visited Tybee’s new Marine Science Center last week for an informational tour. Chantal Audron, the museum curator, enthusiastically shared her knowledge of coastal marine life.
