The military has a $5 Billion economic impact on Chatham County and the coastal area. The Chamber, with SEDA, Chatham County, and the City of Savannah, works closely to retain and grow this important economic contribution to our area. Active service military leaders rotate commands, often every two years. A close relationship with the military leadership is critical.
The week the Chamber CEO, Bill Hubbard, will host a luncheon for new senior leaders who have recently been stationed at the Fort Stewart/ Hunter Army Airfield, and answer any questions that officers and their spouses may have about the Chamber and their new city.

The Georgia Joint Defense Commission will hold a meeting on Tuesday, July 19 at the 165th Airlift Wing Headquarters to discuss, among other things, the recent move by the U.S. Airforce to defund and close the Georgia Combat Readiness Training Center.
The Savannah Chamber will host a reception for the Commissioners and guests Monday night, July 18th.

He presented Savannah's bid to the leadership for a two-year agreement.

Savannah Sports Council seeks a new Director of Sports Events.
The Event Manager serves as Race Director/Event Director for all SSC-owned events and will work closely with the Executive Director to help maximize revenue opportunities for current events, including sales of sponsorship and management of all event-related logistics.

Next week Leadership Savannah will travel to metro Atlanta for the annual City to City Program. This year’s class will hear from the City of Atlanta about initiatives to promote affordable housing and Peachtree Corners will discuss how a millage-free municipality operates.
The class will also enjoy a leadership exercise in Truist Park before watching the World Champion Atlanta Braves beat (fingers crossed!) the New York Mets.

Tanvi Chauhan joins the Savannah Chamber and Visit Savannah's marketing and communications teams from Brewton-Parker College, where she had been an adjunct faculty of Business and Director of Information and Library Services.
Tanvi brings an eclectic professional background to the role: she earned her Master's degree in International Affairs from Troy University (AL) and went on to publish her first book on the Caspian Sea in the early part of 2020.
