Visit Savannah Opens a New Visitor Information Center at City Market

Last week, Visit Savannah held a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for its newest Visitor Information Center located in the atrium inside the City Market.

Staff from Visit Savannah and the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce, along with media and onlookers gathered to celebrate this happy occasion. Cutting the ribbon were First Impression Specialists from the main Visitor Information Center, Chamber Ambassadors, Visit Savannah Chairman Corey Jones, and Assistant Director of the City Market, Kimberly Phillips.

Savannah-Chatham Day Set for Feb 9, 2023

Please join us for Savannah-Chatham Day in Atlanta on February 9, 2023. Chamber members can network with our local legislative delegation and Georgia’s legislative leadership at an oyster roast and Low Country boil at the Georgia Rail Depot. 

We consider Savannah-Chatham Day an important member benefit. This week, Visit Savannah team members attended the Georgia Governor’s Tourism Conference in Athens. Presented by Explore Georgia, the state’s destination marketing organization, the conference provided invaluable education and networking opportunities for the state’s tourism industry.

Attendees from DMO’s, private-sector hospitality businesses, and elected officials came together to hear from experts about best practices in digital marketing channels, meaningful communication strategies, creating breakthrough creative campaigns, and more.

Leadership Savannah is Accepting Applications for 2023

Leadership Savannah is looking for people who are proven leaders that seek the opportunity to grow further.  For more than 60 years, Leadership Savannah has been identifying, enhancing, and training the leaders of the greater Savannah area.  With more than 1500 graduates, Leadership Savannah’s intimate environment fosters lasting, close bonds among class members and alumni.  

Candidates who are selected for the class will participate in ten (10) programs throughout the year.  Each program is designed to enhance individual participants' understanding of the community and their own leadership skills.

Savannah Welcomes Bold Quest

Savannah City Manager Jay Melder,  along with Interim Savannah Chief of Police Lenny Gunther, and Visit Savannah Director of Sales (Northeast) Larry Browder, welcomed the leaders of “Bold Quest” at the Desoto Hotel.

Bold Quest brings over 1,000 US and Coalition partner nation representatives to Savannah and the surrounding region throughout August.

Brian Jewell, a podcast host from The Group Travel Leader interviewed Visit Savannah's Director of Group Tours, Anjuli King, for an episode of "Gather and Go."

In this episode, King informed the audience about Savannah's incredible culinary scene, rich history, African American heritage, and up-and-coming attractions. She also shared some insider tips on how group travel planners can score the best hotel room rates and exclusive dining opportunities.

Secretary of the Army Appoints Four New Civilian Aides

The U.S. Army appointed four new Civilian Aides to the Secretary of the Army during an investiture ceremony on Aug. 2, at the Pentagon.

Secretary of the Army Christine Wormuth swore in Nancy Jean-Louis from Woodbridge, Virginia; Angela Odom from Morrow, Georgia; Peter Hoffman from Savannah, Georgia; and Peter Crean Sr. from New Orleans, Louisiana.

Celebrating Service Week with Savannah Belles Ferry

In celebration of Service Week, Visit Savannah extended a great thank you to the hard-working Savannah Belles Ferry staff last week. They were treated with some Leopold's ice cream and Visit Savannah goodies!

Thousands of visitors and convention goers each year rely on these convenient ferries for transportation between downtown and the convention center. Visit Savannah wanted to show their support to the ferry staff for their continued hard work and dedication.

Visit Savannah Welcomes Travel South USA into Town

Stephanie Muehlher, Destination Service Manager with Visit Savannah welcomed members of Travel South USA to Savannah last week. Travel South chose Savannah this year to conduct their Annual Board of Directors Meeting at the Alida Hotel. Visit Savannah hosted a welcome dinner and reception at Vic's on the River. Attendees included state tourism directors along with staff and vendors.

Travel South USA is the official regional destination marketing organization of the Southern US.
