Savannah Will Host ESTO 2023!

This week, the Visit Savannah team attended the U.S. Travel Association's ESTO Conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan. ESTO is the Educational Seminar for Tourism Organizations. This premier annual learning and knowledge-sharing forum is geared specifically for destination marketing professionals. 

Together with Explore Georgia, the Visit Savannah team announced that next year's conference will be held in Savannah!

Summer Tour Operator FAM Trip Returns After a Hiatus

Visit Savannah Domestic Group Tours and Entertainment Director Anjuli King and Mindy Shea, International Sales Director hosted the Summer Tour Operator FAM trip. This FAM trip returns after a lengthy hiatus – the last one was 2019.

For the first time in almost four years, Visit Savannah Tours and Sales team welcomed tour operators from various areas around the United States. Texas, Michigan, and Virginia were some of the many states on the list.

Savannah Sports Council Welcomes a New Events Manager

Savannah Sports Council is excited to welcome a new Events Manager! Marissa Guarneiri joins the Savannah Sports Council after serving as the Director of Volunteers and Special Projects at Chattanooga Sports.

As Event Manager of the Savannah Sports Council, Marissa will serve as Race Director of the Enmarket Savannah Bridge Run and the Publix Savannah Women’s Half Marathon. Additionally, she will manage the Enmarket Savannah Hockey Classic and the Georgia Power Sports Awards in addition to numerous other sports events hosted here in Savannah.

Visit Savannah One of 3 Finalists for National Award

Visit Savannah's 2021 Incremental Winter Campaign was recently named one of only three finalists for the "Best Digital Campaign Destiny Award," courtesy of U.S. Travel Association.

Hundreds of projects were submitted from around the United States for the award, but Visit Savannah's strategic innovation stood out to the esteemed panel of judges representing a wide variety of verticals.

Visit Savannah First Impressionists Network with Statewide Visitor Information Center Folks 

Director of Savannah’s Visitor Information Center, Mava Byrd, and Visit Tybee’s center manager, Liz Hood networked with state and regional Visitor center managers from around the state at the Georgia Governor’s Tourism Conference.

There were round table discussions on visitor services and classes on communication which helped the staff really learn important ideas, especially in this past-pandemic phase.

Call for Member Businesses to Participate in Homelessness Resource and Job Fair

The Chatham Savannah Authority for the Homeless along with the Salvation Army, U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Savannah State University, Union Mission, and many others will be sponsoring a “Stand Down for Homelessness Resource and Job Fair” on September 20, 2022.

Employers with openings are also encouraged to participate in a job fair running from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. the same day.
