Visit Savannah will welcome the U.S. Travel Association’s 39th annual Tourism Marketing Conference, “ESTO,” August 19-23 at the Savannah Convention Center.
ESTO is an annual conference for destination marketing professionals from city, regional, and state tourism offices. Each year the conference is held in a different destination and features four days of educational sessions, networking opportunities, and industry awards.

The Georgia Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Congressional Luncheon in Athens last Tuesday. The crowd of over 1,100 included chambers and chamber members from all over Georgia. Savannah Chamber president & CEO Bert Brantley with V.P. of Government Affairs Jared Downs, along with Chatham County Chairman Chester Ellis, joined our friends Courtney Rawlins with the Pooler Chamber and Pooler City Councilwoman Karen Williams at a joint Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce/Greater Pooler Area Chamber of Commerce table.

On Tuesday, August 8th, the Savannah Chamber joined the Georgia Chamber Hub Council as they hosted state leadership for a policy breakfast in conjunction with the Georgia Chamber’s Congressional Luncheon. The Hub Chamber Council membership is comprised of leaders from the 11 metropolitan hub cities outside of Atlanta and seeks to coordinate policy solutions to commonly shared challenges and goals statewide.

Joseph Marinelli, President, and Angela Westerfield, Vice President of Marketing and Communications, met with Travel + Leisure’s Editor-in-Chief Jacqui Gifford in New York City last week. The group talked about Savannah again being named a favorite top 5 US City on T+L’s “World’s Best” 2023 list. The team is planning to visit T + L’s Travel Advisors Summit in Las Vegas later this month.

The GA WORKS Commission (Growing All Workforce Opportunities by Remaking the Scope of Licensing Commission) met in Athens last Tuesday. The Commission heard from several organizations that addressed the barriers associated with the current licensing process in Georgia.

The Brampton Road project will eliminate at-grade crossings to ease traffic congestion and offer truck drivers faster access to the nation’s busiest container terminal. Soon, trucks leaving Gate 3 will have just one stop light to navigate before accessing the freeway for a straight drive to Atlanta and other key markets.
