Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp hosted a Workforce Summit last week, and our region had prominent seats at the table. At the CEO Roundtable on Wednesday, Savannah Area Chamber President & CEO Bert Brantley joined Gulfstream’s Vice President for Law & Public Affairs Jay Neely for the 90-minute discussion featuring leaders across the state in various industries. Neely also served as a panelist on Thursday, highlighting the innovative practices Gulfstream uses to recruit and retain talented workers. Governor Kemp also used the Summit to announce a groundbreaking new program called Georgia MATCH.

On October 5, the Savannah Chamber, along with The Georgia Chamber of Commerce, the Georgia Ports Authority, Georgia Power, Gulfstream, The Metro Atlanta Chamber, The Savannah Economic Development Authority, and The Tourism Leadership Council, hosted the Georgia Legislative Women’s Caucus for dinner at the Pirates House. This was the first time the Legislative Women’s Caucus had met since 2019, and they chose to meet in Savannah.

Visit Savannah, Club Car, and The Landings Golf & Athletic Club, have joined forces to bring the Club Car Championship to a massive global audience. Visit Savannah is now the official broadcast partner of the tournament, positioning it as one of only three regular-season events on the Korn Ferry Tour to be broadcast on network television. The agreement with Golf Channel extends through the 2025 tournament, with coverage spanning from Thursday’s opening round to the Sunday trophy presentation, reaching over 340 million potential households in more than 170 countries and territories, and distributed in 15+ markets via GOLFTV.

New ferry boats are currently under construction in New York and are expected to be delivered to Chatham Area Transit (CAT) by the second quarter of next year. Chatham Area Transit (CAT) 's Executive Director Faye DiMassimo, Visit Savannah President Joseph Marinelli, and others will visit the plant in November to see the assembly site and get a progress update.

Last week, the Effingham Chamber of Commerce hosted a leadership retreat on St. Simon Island for their board, elected officials, and strategic community partners, including our own Jennifer Davenport, VP of Community Affairs and in-house counsel.
