Last week, the main Visitor Center greeted Ireri and Onofie Padilla with their children, Carlos and Alexia. They came to visit Savannah from Mexico City. An excited Ireri told the visitor information staff how she had read "Gone with the Wind" when she was 11 years old, and ever since, wanted to visit the South.

Applications for the 2023 Leadership Savannah Class will continue through Friday, September 30, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. The selections committee is seeking representation from a cross-section of the community, including those active in business, education, the arts, religion, government, community-based organizations and ethnic and minority groups, and will reflect the diversity of the community. Applicants must have the full support of their organization or corporation they represent.

Last Monday, Visit Savannah attended a Wine & Dinner Reception at The Grey. The Edna Lewis Foundation teamed up with James Beard Award winner Chef Mashama Bailey for "The Black Hand in the Pot." This was a dinner event that honored the memory of Chef Edna Lewis and celebrated African-American female chefs.
