Savannah and Chatham County Aim to Host NACo's 2027 Annual Convention

Last week, Visit Savannah leaders joined forces with Chatham County Chairman Chester Ellis and six County Commissioners to extend a warm welcome to leaders from the National Association of Counties (NACo) as they visited Savannah and Chatham County. Collaboratively, they are striving to secure NACo's pledge to hold their annual convention in Savannah in 2027. The collective anticipates approximately 3,500 county leaders from across the nation to participate. Previous attempts to attract the group faced setbacks in 2005 but were revitalized in 2022 through the efforts of Commissioner Pat Farrell and the Visit Savannah sales team. Read more

Savannah Navy Week Schedule of Events March 11-17 

As part of Navy Week, from March 11-17, visiting sailors will be involved in nearly 70 events around Savannah and Chatham County. Events include school visits, Navy STEM Day, performances by Navy Band Southeast, hospital visits, and community service projects. The Navy's community service projects during the week help non-profit organizations such as Old Savannah City Mission, Park Place Outreach, Pin Point Heritage Museum, Keep Savannah Beautiful, Frank Callen Boys & Girls Club, Tiny Homes, Salvation Army, Marine Rescue Squadron-Tybee, and more. Visit Savannah Secures RFPs After Successful Trade Shows Across Three Cities

Visit Savannah's Director of Southeast Sales, Jennifer Thompson, who embarked on a journey with Retreat Resources to trade shows in Atlanta, Nashville, and Louisville, each drawing over 20 planners. The efforts bore fruit swiftly as requests for proposals (RFPs) streamed from each city. Jennifer Thompson was captured in a snapshot alongside Janet Garrett and Nina Gottes of the Kentucky Credit Union League, marking a promising collaboration. Read more 

Visit Savannah Welcomes SIAC Conference Championships

President Joseph Marinelli of Visit Savannah and Chatham County Sheriff John T. Wilcher greeted SIAC Conference Commissioner Anthony Holloman upon his arrival in Savannah. Last week, the SIAC men's and women's basketball championships occurred at Savannah State University, culminating in an exciting championship match at the Enmarket Arena. Commissioner Holloman hosted a tournament appreciation brunch at the St. Julian's rooftops at the Thompson Hotel. Read more
